Tommy is an administrator of Barden University's a cappella-related activities such as the auditions, the initiation party and the Riff-off. He also has a tone-deaf assistant, which is Justin.
He is very outspoken, and takes a cappella very seriously. He is seen again in the next auditions when he claims that he has been rejected by the army, has been shoved into a Dora the Explorer backpack and shoved into the girls' locker room wearing nothing but suspenders, which may be a sign that he was bullied quite a lot. He also mentioned about high school some, so he might have been in A cappella there.
