Synopsis[]
Bumper’s feelings for Heidi evolve; Thea and Heidi support Bumper after he gets bad news.
Plot Summary[]
Bumper goes to a meeting with the team, but he is continuously distracted by Heidi. He has a hard time concentrating but tries to push on. Pieter tells Bumper the judges that he has to impress to get booked at Germany Unity Day.
The team go out to eat and run into one of the judges, which was Pieter’s plan all along. However, the judge tells him Bumper isn’t what they had in mind to represent Germany and that they don’t want to book him. Pieter is upset and takes it out on Bumper. They start fighting but Heidi insists they keep working on Bumper’s career like they have been. Pieter snaps at her next. He resigns as their manager.
Bumper goes out to drink with Ursula. He gets too drunk and goes to the judge’s house. The police come and pick him up to take him to the hospital. He takes the time to think about his relationships with Heidi and Pieter. Pieter comes to visit him and Bumper apologizes for letting him down. Heidi and Thea come too and they all make up. Bumper tells them he wrote a song himself.
Back at the hostel, Bumper plays the song for the group. He then decides to perform an impromptu performance on a rooftop in Germany. A judge from Germany Unity Day hears Bumper and tells him he can play. He can share the spot with Gisela as the two newcomers. The group is thrilled.
Bumper Allen gets a notice of deportation by the German government.
