Freddie Stroma was born Frederic Wilhelm C.J. Sjostrom in London, England on January 8, 1987, to a Swedish father and a German mother. Although he was born in London, he was educated at the boys-only boarding school Radley College and was the middle child of three with an older sister and a younger brother. Following filming, Stroma returned to University College London to complete his degree, claiming that it, "would have been a shame to just throw it away." He also attained a second class degree.
